The Vaccine War :
The Vaccine War, originally intended as a timely celebration of Indian scientists’ remarkable efforts in developing an indigenous COVID-19 vaccine, unexpectedly takes a different turn. Instead of focusing solely on the achievement, the documentary evolves into a passionate critique of those who questioned the government’s handling of the vaccine development process. These critics, during the vaccine’s development, often raised concerns about the balance between speed and efficacy and questioned the government’s dedication to scientific rigor.
The Vaccine War
Adapted from Dr. Balram Bhargava’s detailed account in his book ‘Going Viral,’ the film skillfully portrays the commitment and bravery of the former director of the Indian Council of Medical Research, as well as his dedicated team of scientists from both the ICMR and the National Institute of Virology. While originally intended as a celebration of scientific achievement, The Vaccine War takes a more critical stance on the socio-political aspects surrounding vaccine development in India
